Parul Maheshwari
A cardiac anesthesiologist and a successful entrepreneur of Renaissance MedSpa, Parul loves the meaning behind The Dahlia Initiative as it reflects personal experience. "I grew up in India, so I have seen the need for easy access to safe feminine hygeine products as well as the need for education about menstrual cycles. This non-profit holds a special place in my heart because I know the impact it can have on the Indian community as a whole.
Tihara Taverner
A licensed clinical social worker and trauma therapist, Tihara is a military wife and mom to three boys. She received her Bachelor's degree and worked with international aid organizations in India and Haiti for two years. After activation from the Army Reserves to active duty deployment to Iraq, she moved to Texas and earned her Master's degree in Divinity from Baylor. Upon graduation, Tihara worked as the Director of Special Projects for the Waco Foundation which provides grants to nonprofits. She then moved to North Carolina where she began her work as a clinician. She works in private practice and volunteers for Beyond Valor.
Michelle Rodemer
She recieved a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. A former Probation Officer, Court Clerk, and the Therapeutic Use Exemption Lead and Client Administrator in Colorado Springs for the United Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), Michelle looks forward to serve on this Board of Directors as this non-profit comes from the heart of young women, for young women. Shelly is proud of Dahlia because this initiative positively promotes continuing education for adolescent females in impoverished areas through the use of feminine hygiene products.
Founders
Olivia Flores
Olivia is a Team USA ice skater at 16 years old. She loves to learn new things and help others learn as well, which played a role in forming The Dahlia Initiative. She also enjoys reading and hiking and wants to be an engineer.
2020-2023
Navya Maheshwari
A junior in high school, Navya is part of the debate team. She also co-founded the Model UN club at her school and plays field hockey. She has visited India multiple times, which is why she feels so connected to our mission.
Samira Rzig
16 years old, Samira has been a competitive figure skater for ten years. She wants to go into business, which is why she started Yomi Apparel, a clothing shop. She cofounded The Dahlia Initiative because she wanted to impact others' lives.
